A NEW APPROACH TO TOTAL HIP REVISION SURGERY

The Watson Extraction System™

The Watson Extraction System™ uses patent-pending implant specific revision instruments for the removal of non-cemented stems. The additional Bone Conserving Technology allows for maximum bone conservation for re-implantation of revision stems by using self-guided advancement instruments to follow the curvature of the wedge stem to be removed.

The WES Lateral and WES Medial Instruments are designed to work in conjunction with one another to follow the dimensions of the stem being removed minimizing bone loss, bone damage, and surgical time.

3 STEP APPROACH

For Surgical Stem Extraction

STEP 1

Expose the proximal end of the implant by using a rongeur and high-speed pencil tip burr. Good exposure facilitates easy introduction of the WES Lateral and WES Medial Instruments.

STEP 2

Enter with the WES Lateral Instrument to free the lateral side of the stem while also releasing the anterior and posterior portions of the stem.

STEP 3

Introduce the WES Medial Instrument to release the medial side. This procedure is facilitated given that there is room for the stem to move laterally as the Medial Instrument advances.
